We learned about COVID on the drive back from Tucson after Wild Wild West Steampunk Convention 9 in March 2020. The news was clearly serious because Tucson Festival of Books, scheduled for the next weekend, was cancelled. Little did we know that everything would be cancelled for a year and a half. Our first convention back in person after COVID was TusCon 48 in November 2021, but the first convention at which I presented a fresh Apocalypse Later Roadshow set was, appropriately, Wild Wild West Steampunk Convention X. The theme was "Over the Rainbow", which gave opportunity in a couple of directions, and I was able to fit plenty of Wizard of Oz related films into the show. As much as I enjoyed revisiting old favourites for a couple of virtual shows, it was really good to get back to showing material that I hadn't . |
